The head of one of Newcastle’s biggest and most successful used car retailers has been honoured at the industry’s leading awards event.

Scott Sibley, owner of Redgate Lodge, on New York Road, Shiremoor, was named Dealers’ Dealer of the Year at the Car Dealer Magazine Used Car Awards in London.

The coveted award, presented by TV’s Wheeler Dealer and ceremony host Mike Brewer, was chosen by the UK’s dealer network themselves, with judges picking an overall winner from a wide range of entries.

Presenting the award, Mike Brewer, said: “This was very difficult to judge, but in the end there was one person who stood out and there was no disputing the shining reviews.”

“Scott has the full support of his team, who think he truly makes a difference to their working lives, and has been praised for having an innovative approach, a willingness to help others and has taken time to mentor new dealers in the industry.”

Scott’s victory follows success for Redgate Lodge last year, where it was named Best Dealership Use of Video.

Founded in 2010, Redgate Lodge grew from the driveway of Scott’s home, to its current site, where its forecourt has capacity for up to 130 vehicles. The site also offers a comprehensive range of aftersales services, from diagnostics, servicing, MOTs, repairs, bodyshop and safety checks.

It’s also a signed up member of the AA Dealer Promise, offers warranties and finance options for people with good and bad credit, and also has its own website TV channel page with promotional and information videos.

Speaking afterwards, Scott said: “I am absolutely thrilled to win this award, which has been voted for by my peers. It means so much.”
