2016 Used Car Awards Winner ‘Innovative use of video’

The Motor Trader Industry Awards are now in their 34th year, and are recognised as the Oscars of the motor industry in celebrating excellence across motor retailing. The awards took place on Wednesday 20 November at the iconic Grosvenor House Hotel in London.

William first challenge with his career in the motor trade was to fit in with the team at Redgate Lodge. Being the owner’s son, it was vital for William to gain the likability factor, team members would naturally look at William differently. William has fit in perfectly, he is very well liked, helpful and often very funny, he has a very infectious personality and both staff and customers really enjoy his company.

William started with Redgate Lodge part time at the age of 15 when he was still at school, he would work on a Sunday 10am – 4pm where he would support the sales team, tidying up, answering the phone, helping with paperwork etc. When William left school at the age of 16 he was one of the “Covid Kids” all exams were cancelled and the UK went into lockdown.

Due to William starting the family business, there was no chance he would be starting in a senior role, it was very important for his development to start at the bottom. William spent his first eighteen months in the valet department. From there he moved into our bodyshop where he spent another eighteen months. Next was our workshop in Bosch where he spent time in the workshop and on reception. This gained him an immediate vast knowledge when it came to car preparation and presentation. William now aged 20 is our Junior Sales Executive, based at our Redgate Lodge Select site.
